This final University module for the Graphic Design programme was an opportunity for students to bring together all their previous learning and further develop their skills and knowledge through the definition, negotiation and implementation of a personal programme of design study. It required the student to identify a focus on which they could develop a substantial body of work that met the module aims and learning outcomes.
The primary responsibility of defining, implementing and managing this body of work lied completely with the student.

Digitally showcase a fashion
student’s outfits intended
for their
professional
portfolio in order to
help increase personal technical
skills and experience in 3D.

Through the nature of Co-design this project initiated with time-management; a negotiated work load / flow project roadmap was created to help better visualise the amount of intended involvement needed from the designer and the client.
The circles are all evenly split to better represent the concept of co-design; where the designer works with their client rather than for their client.

The Outfit
Once designed in 3D me and Olivia concluded that recreating her whole collection in 3D would be impracticle and not completely convey her theme of the collection. From this point it was negotiated that we create 3 theme based environments for the outfits to be showcased in. The full in-depth research and ideation for these themes can be found in the NMP documentation (see bootom of this page).
Themal Imaging
Environment One
Considering the view of a thermal imaging camera tracking the movement of the model and outfit. This final render effectively conveys the theme of empowerment through its visual concept, made complete with the added overlay statistical graphics; referencing the appropriate research.
The Bubble
Environment Two
“ ...mental escape, time to focus on yourself, being in your own bubble and switch off. Also increasing self-confidence.”
The bubble represents a strong sense of self-empowerment, that couldn’t easily be deformed / misshapen; a solid sense of security and confidence at the gym.
All Eyes On Me
Environment Three
A use of the idiomatic phrase “all eyes on me” as previously noted in one of the ‘Living through society’ podcasts, but with a positive spin, where the eyes dilate as they follow the movement of the garment. Representing the wearers focus; not on all the eyes watching them, but instead, on their own workout.
